BF6 Players Are Convinced: Challenges Are Excessively Difficult
The launch of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 received widespread acclaim, especially for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, live player figures reached a high of nearly 750,000. Yet, in spite of its success, an increasing amount of players are protesting against a portion of the release's hardest challenges, which are required to unlock specific weapons.
Users have commenced resorting to custom matches created through the Portal feature to finish these tasks, highlighting just how arduous these missions have become.
Understanding BF6 Assignments
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, different from the frequently updated everyday and weekly missions. There are four categories of assignments, but although many only reward skins and a few gadgets, achieving the firearm tasks is the exclusive means of acquiring 12 of the 41 key firearms found within the game.
Some of these locked weapons might eventually make their appearance on lists of the finest arms in Battlefield 6.
Gamer Backlash across Reddit
Over on Reddit, players are justifiably expressing their worries about how difficult and grindy several of these challenges are. An individual player pointed out one of the most outrageous examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
- Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs
"This challenge is so atrocious and entirely ill-conceived, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a quote that summarizes just how excessively challenging these tasks are.
The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it lacks nearly as many positive effects in fights as it used to in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.
Additionally, hipfiring an LMG is highly imprecise and only works at point-blank proximity, which isn't typically where you want to be. The commenter also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that challenge would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and the other way around.
Another Overly Demanding Challenge
Another Reddit user highlighted a further incredibly demanding challenge, within the marksman rifle class to obtain the PSR:
- Get 150 headshot kills beyond 200 meters with long-range weapons
This is difficult enough on its own, but there's another important point to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at such a long range.
There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but since there are only nine maps in the game at present, it means you're limited to playing one of the larger locales, a particular valley environment, and possibly an additional option at a push if you plan to engage from afar from beyond 200 meters.
The Bypass
There is a workaround though: Battlefield Portal. This portal feature is a feature that enables you to create personalized matches on whatever map you choose, including AI opponents. This implies you can cheese the system… but it isn't truly in line with the intended gameplay experience.
However, when tackling the tasks in a standard match feels like anti-playing, since you are forced to participate in such an atypical style that offers no advantage to anyone, who can fault a player for grinding them out in a custom game so squad members are not disadvantaged?
Future Adjustments
It won't come as a surprise if several of these tasks are toned down in the next few updates, because unless they are modified, some players simply won't get their hands on the restricted guns.
Currently, the audience continues to share their thoughts on these demanding battlefield assignments, anticipating a less arduous gaming experience in future updates.
